What is baby colic?

Infant colic is one of the most common benign disorders among our little ones. It is usually defined that a baby has colic when he cries more than 3 hours a day, more than 3 days a week and more than 3 weeks. It usually begins when baby turns 15 days old and can last up to 4 months.

The team of pediatricians and pediatric nurses we work with, defines it as "the largest hotchpotch report that exists." And precisely for this reason it is so difficult, sometimes, to find the specific treatment. It is also true that, as it is a benign disorder, it does not affect the health or development of newborns; Crying is not usually given much importance and we are simply told that we must wait for it to disappear.

How do you know if your baby has colic?

They are usually babies who cry a lot. They twist, turn red and are in tension. Their little hands are closed and tense. Their crying seems like a cry of pain and, as parents, you suffer every night when it starts. It usually starts at the same time and usually starts and ends suddenly.

In Kusi Wawa we lived in our own skin the hardness of the phrase: "it will pass" and, because the nights became eternal with the tears and cries of our first daughter; We began to investigate how we could help her.

After years of working with a large team of pediatricians, pediatric nurses, midwives and physiotherapists, we have found that colic is a mixture of different things that make your baby uncomfortable.

On the one hand, there is their developing digestive system. Newborns are so small that sometimes their digestive system is still developing. This reality can cause children to suffer from gas, gut pains, cramps, dyskecia, or other discomfort related to the digestive system. Our newborns are so small that the only way to express their discomfort is through crying. And since it is very difficult to calm them down, crying can persist for a long time.

On the other hand, there is their emotional development. We must remember that our babies have only recently been in their mom's belly. With warmth, tightness, with constant movement, with the noise of their  hearts that relaxed them. Birth is a great deal and, life outside the womb is hard to adapt to. Therefore they require a process of adaptation to the new environment and it is so important to offer them all the contact and attachment they need.

And finally, another important aspect is the state of stress thatparents can achieve. Due to the panic we feel when we hear our baby cry, we are tense and sometimes we can lose control. It is important to have relaxation strategies and, it goes without saying, that this is very difficult to achieve. The more relaxed and calm the parents are, the more it will facilitate the baby's relaxation.

Whenever the baby suffers and you see that he is not right, it is important that you go to your health center so that your pediatrician or your pediatric nurse can evaluate him. If it is confirmed that the baby has colic, surely they will resort to a few drops to see if with this you can prevent them. If this is not the case, that’s because there may be other realities that are not covered.

It is precisely thanks to this that the Kusi Wawa Method is so effective. Since it is not intended to solve the root of a specific problem, but offers symptomatic relief on a 100% natural manner of all those aspects that may be bothering your baby.

How do we achieve it?

We relieve the physical pain he may feel in the belly with our safe thermotherapy thanks to our anti-burn safety device.

We use aromatherapy to favor the relaxation of both the baby and the parents.

We use our swaddle so that the baby feels wrapped. We swing him, we sing to him… Everything so that he can go back to his comfort zone.

By following all the steps of the Kusi Wawa Method, we are providing guidelines to parents, which, at the same time, reduce their stress level as they feel they are helping their child effectively.

We present below examples of parents who have used the Kusi Wawa method and its results.
